When it comes to writing amazing blogs and articles for your website, it is amazing how this task can quickly drop down your to do list, with other “more important” things replacing it. Granted, getting your tax return in on time or paying your staff is probably more vital and time critical, but producing content for your site is something that has to be done, and rather than fall down and then off of your things to do list, should be firmly stuck at the top and actioned weekly.
We all struggle to write content from time to time, whether you love blogging or you detest it, but generally, if you are not willing to invest the time into writing blogs and articles that will help your business succeed, then you really are missing a trick.
So, here are six things that you can do that will not only help your blogging and writing efforts, but should allow you to start to see the impact this could have on your online traffic, rankings and of course, business.
Plan Well Ahead
One of the biggest stumbling blocks when it comes to writing content is your mind going blank when you finally get half an hour to sit down and start writing it, as this is often where so many people fall at the final hurdle of content writing. The best thing to do is keep a master spreadsheet with some potential article and blog titles and some bullet points alongside them, then when you do get some valuable writing time, you will already have the content planned will make life so much easier and you can simply write as many as you have time for.

Industry Information
Keep up to date with what others in your industry are talking about and writing about, as if you can hit a topic that is fresh and current, then you have a good chance of getting some serious benefit from it. For example, in the SEO industry as soon as there is a major Penguin update, you will see every decent SEO expert producing a blog, as not only does it help customers to understand what is going on, but it will also be so fresh and in the mind that more people are like to like it, share it and get it some lovely engagement statistics.
Understand Your Customers
Understand what your customers want to read and the type of content that they engage with on your site, and you can do this by looking at existing data in Google Analytics to see the pages that are really rocking the socks of your visitors and then producing more along the lines of this content. You can also use sites like Buzz Sumo to see where your best content is and how it is being engaged with, and then writing more along these lines or in the same type of style that fits your customers’ needs and requirements.
Write With Passion
If you write about something you care about, know about and have a passion about, then you are half way to writing an amazing blog that is going to get people talking. Trying to write about something you have no idea about or you have no real interest in is just going to come across in your final content, so this could be the time that you consider outsourcing or getting someone within your company that might be able to produce content with more enthusiasm and passion. If your content is boring and lacks character, then this will reflect on your company, which of course, is never going to be a good thing.
Avoid Writing For SEO
Do not come up with 10 keywords you want to rank for and then just fill your articles with spammy, SEO produced content, as this will not only fail to work from a search engines point of view but for your customers as well, as it will just be an awful read. Write with a passion, offer amazing quality and always think about whether you would really be proud to have your name associated with that particular blog should it really go viral, as if it lacks quality and engagement value, you simply are wasting your time.
Outsource
The final point is quite simple, if you do not have the time to write your own content, then there is no harm in outsourcing it to professional content writers, as you might find this is the best route to head down if you really will not write your own. Writing content is not for everyone, I fully understand that, but it is so crucial for your website that you cannot afford to ignore it, so if writing really is not for you, find a writer that you can work with to produce it for you, as this could be the perfect option all round.
